Four Army trucks gutted as goods train catches fire

A goods train carrying Army trucks reportedly caught fire at Maramajhiri-Dharakhoh stations under Betul and Ghodadongri section on Thursday afternoon. No injuries were reported but the railway traffic got affected badly on the Nagpur-Itarsi track, said an official. No one was injured in the incident and the fire was put out soon, District Collector Shashank Mishra said. Four Army trucks were completely damaged as the fire engulfed four waggons of the train, he said. Fire tenders from Betul section controlled the situation within an hour. Reason for the fire in goods train is still unknown. As per reports, two Army trucks carrying explosives were gutted completely while 10 other trucks were affected by the fire. The goods train was carrying trucks from Bangalore to Faizabad (UP).

Several trains have been stopped from passing through the Amla and Betul stations. Dozens of train arrived several hours late in Bhopal. According to reports, Hyderabad-Nizamuddin Dakshin Express, Bangalore Danapur Sanghmitra Express and Patalkot Express trains were stopped at Betul, Kota Maramjhiri and Amla stations for several hours. Railway officials informed that all trains have been stopped at Betul railway station and all the three platforms of Amla railway station have been blocked. IA Siddique, Public Relation Officer (PRO) Bhopal Railway said, “most of trains on Nagpur-Bhopal route arrived late by several hours due to the fire incident. Few trains have been diverted in other route while few trains have been cancelled.” He further said concern department is trying to manage the situation at the best level.
