PHED makes comprehensive arrangements for drinking water

Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) has made comprehensive preparations for drinking water supply in 384 villages of Durg district’s Durg, Dhamdha and Patan blocks. In all villages hand pumps have been checked and efforts were taken to repair the fault. There are 5,127 hand pumps in the district. 4961 hand pumps are operational. To tackle water crisis, 712 single phase pumps, 137 Nal-Jal yojna, 41 Sthal Jal Yojna, 124 solar pumps are being operated. Only 166 hand pumps are out of order. In view of inadequate water recharge due to scanty rains and envisaging possibility of water crisis 117 villages were identified for possible water crisis. From 1st January 2018 till date 1092 m riser pipes have been increased in 191 hand pumps, 636 m riser pipes were changed in 109 hand pumps.

35 single phase pumps were established from departmental head and 14th Finance. 140 new tubewells have been dug. 419 private tubewells have been marked for acquisition if need be. In 72 villages water level has gone down hence pumps have been inserted into tubewells and laying pipeline and setting up syntax tanks water supply is being done in villages Nandwai, Dargaon and Sirnabhata of Dhamdha block. For continuity of drinking water system in the district Control Room has been established with phone number 0788-2323633 for Hand Pumps fault complaint inform on toll free number 18002330003. Three offices of Janpad Panchayats and Gram Panchayats registers have been maintained to note down the complaint.
