Ajni cops arrest three ‘Shetti’ gang members involved in various thefts

AJNI Police arrested three members of ‘Shetti’ gang from Tamil Nadu and detected seven house-breaking thefts, besides recovering stolen cash, gold ornaments, silver utensils and three stolen two-wheelers collectively worth over Rs 2.80 lakh from them.


The accused have been identified as Prabhu Subramaniam Sanipati (32), a resident of Sewapeth, district Guntur, VyankateshVelyedan Korvan (45) and Murli alias Roshan Parasraman Killan (26), both residents of Kallot, district Vellore. All the three accused are from Tamil Nadu and were staying in a rented room at Mahakali Nagar, Manewada. Between April 29 and May 3, the gang had stolen silver utensils, coins and some cash from the residence of Harshal Manjre at Plot No 80, Abhay Nagar. Manjre (36) and members of his family were in Delhi when the incident had taken place.
Around 3 am on May 4, the DB Squad of Ajni Police nabbed the three accused on suspicion in Suyog Nagar. The fourth member of the gang managed to give a slip to the cops under the cover of darkness.


During their custodial interrogation, the accused trio spilled the beans. Investigation revealed that the accused had stolen cash, coins and silver utensils from Manjre’s house. Similarly, the gang had committed four more house-breaking thefts in Ajni area and two in Hudkeshwar police station area.


The gang had committed more than 15 house-breaking thefts in Chandrapur. Gang members were earlier arrested. Soon after releasing on bail, eight members of the gang, including three arrested by Ajni Police, committed several thefts at different places and were planning to flee with the booty to Chennai on May 5. Cops found a confirmed train ticket of eight gang members from their rented room. Search for other members is on.


The arrests were made by Senior PI S S Sankhe, PI A P Seed, API Sandeep Dhobe, API N B Gawande, PSI Bansode, WPSI Bhute, constabulary staff Ramchandra Karemore, Anil Brahmankar, Suresh Shende, Ratan Bagde, Nileshwar Titarmare, Shailesh, Prashant and Manoj under the supervision of DCP (Zone IV) Nilesh Bharne and ACP (Ajni Division) Kishor Supare.
