Couple involved in burglaries arrested

The TT Nagar police have nabbed a couple involved in burglaries and recovered valuables worth Rs 2 lakh from their possession on Saturday. Acting on a tip-off, a man was detained near liquor shop in Panchsheel Nagar, who was trying to sell something made of silver, which the person failed to provide details. The nabbed was identified as Tantan alias Shailendra Bansal 26, son of Shyamlal, who confessed to burglaries in Panchsheel Nagar and Habibganj areas and in the further investigation, police have recovered valuables worth Rs 2 lakh. Based on the details provided by the accused, a gold finger ring was recovered from his 27-year-old wife Poonam, with whom Tantan tied knot around one year ago. One of the accomplices of the accused remained absconding and search has been intensified by the police.
Providing the modus operandi, accused told the police that he used to carry out recce of vacant house and later, used to target the houses with his accomplices.


The accused has been booked for more than a dozen cases by different police stations of the city. Police said, he has been booked for burglary, theft, illegal transport of liquor, assault and other crimes by TT Nagar and Habibganj police. police found that the accused is drug addict and fond of expensive liquor. He married Poonam around a year ago, who likes expensive goods and to fulfills her demands and to satisfy his addictions, used to burgle. The accomplices, who have helped in disposing the burgled and stolen goods, would be nabbed in the further investigation.
