THE idea of exploiting enormous strength in things of internet for shifting of technology, knowledge about modern farming, veterinary, the State Agriculture and Veterinary Universities is yet to initiate work towards developing content for this medium. Biggest tool in internet space available are social networks and video sites. Challenge in the agriculture and veterinary fraternity is development of content to be given to farmers in their language. The idea is social sites be utilised for transformation of cultural and heritage agriculture to modern vibrant farming by education farmers in different areas of agriculture sciences on application of modern developments in traditional farming.

Yet focus of education sector in agriculture remains pointed on developing human resources, while shifting of technology remains secondary. In past few years, internet connectivity was a challenge but with cut throat competition between mobile companies the network is strong in majority of areas. In majority of villages near district headquarters even in janpad panchayat level villages internet connectivity is strong. In agriculture segment, farmers who are associated with some secondary farming works like grading, storage or primary processing like sorting, flouring, dehydration and packaging are well connected with market. Similarly, in veterinary sector works people engaged in dairy farming, animal husbandry, poultry, goatery, sericulture, fishery are mostly connected with market linage through internet and mobile. Vice-Chancellor of Nanaji Deshmukh Veterinary University Professor Pragyag Dutt Juyal said that, “Yet, University has worked on extension model based on available resources for training and information to target group of farmers. In Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) recommendations over developing entrepreneurship programmes various initiatives have been taken by preparing entry level jobs training to technical training in short-term capsule courses. There is huge scope of development of content for training of farmers and people in allied works and that could be used for education on social media.

The idea is being nourished at University and soon Veterinary University will come up with a Cell dedicated to development of content for social networks,” said Professor Juyal. National Egg Coordination Committee, Madhya Pradesh, Chairman, Ravi Mishra opined that idea of using information technology and things of internet in education of farmers should be taken-up on priority. Development of training content for social networking sites will enhance skills of people involved in developing production efficiency of human resources involved in different stages. Universities and Research Institutions should provide content and modules that could be developed as short video clippings and picture based presentations in language that could be understood easily by targeted human resources.
