Vice-President to grace Patrakarita Vishwavidyalaya Convocation today

Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu will grace the third Convocation Ceremony of Kushabhau Thakre Patrakarita Avam Jansanchar Vishwavidyalaya as chief guest. As per schedule, the ceremony will begin at 10 am on Wednesday at Pt Deendayal Upadhyaya Auditorium, Government Nagarjuna Post Graduate College of Science premises, and it will last only for one and a half hour keeping in mind the busy schedule of the Vice-President who will leave for Bhopal to attend Convocation of Makhanlal Chaturvedi Rashtriya Patrakaria Avam Sanchar Vishwavidyalaya.

Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh will preside over the ceremony while guests of honour will be Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker Gaurishankar Agrawal, State Higher and Technical Education Minister Prem Prakash Pandey, Agriculture Minister Brijmohan Agrawal, Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Ajay Chandrakar, PWD Minister Rajesh Munat and Raipur MP Ramesh Bais.

Addressing mediapersons on Monday, University Vice-Chancellor Professor (Dr) Man Singh Parmar and Registrar Atul Kumar Tiwari said that 19 candidates of 2015, 2016 and 2017 batches will be honoured with gold medals while 23 candidates will be conferred M Phil degrees. Similarly, post graduate degrees will be conferred on 122 candidates and degrees will be bestowed on 104 students.

They said that final rehearsal of the convocation will be held on Tuesday at 10 am at the auditorium. Unlike previous two convocations, students receiving medals and degrees will wear ‘dhoti’, ‘kurta’ , ‘dupatta’ and ‘safa’ in the third convocation. Guests will also wear the same attire while a ‘Kosa’ jacket is being prepared for the Vice President. It needs to be mentioned, the 14th Dalai Lama was the chief guest in the first convocation ceremony and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh was the chief guest for the second convocation of the university.
