OFK employee killed, 3 critically hurt while testing ammunition

IN A tragic incident, an employee of Ordnance Factory Khamaria (OFK) was killed and three others were critically injured due to explosion of L-70 anti-tank ammunition at Field Armed Depot, Ucchi Bassi, area between Jalandhar and Pathankot in Punjab on Tuesday. The deceased has been identified as Ajay Kumar Pandey (35), Danger Building Worker posted in Filling-3 section of OFK and native of Radheshyam Colony in Muradnagar, while three other employees including a Chargeman R K Sharma, Danger Building Workers Dilip Sahu and Sukhlal posted in Filling-III section were critically injured.

OFK team comprising Ajay Kumar Pandey, R K Sharma, Dilip Sahu and Sukhlal reached 18 Field Armed Depot for rectification and gauging of anti-tank ammunition. The incident took place when they were busy gauging the ammunition when it exploded. In the mishap, Ajay Pandey succumbed to critical injuries on the spot, while R K Sharma, Dilip Sahu and Sukhlal were critically injured.
OFK Labourers’ Union leaders Sharad Albal, Dhanji Singh, Gautam Sharma, Arnab Dasgutpa and others have made an appeal to the senior administrative officers to ensure best medical treatment to injured and provide immediate appointment on compassionate grounds to dependent of deceased employee.
