Plantation to be done in catchment of Narmada, 313 rivers: CM

CHIEF Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that unlike previous year, plantation drive will be carried out from July 15 to August 15 on the catchment area of Narmada and other 313 rivers of Madhya Pradesh.He added that shortly, work to construct pond in catchment area of Narmada will also be carried out and an amount has been also sanctioned in this regard. Work to construct boundaries will be conducted so that water trickles down into Narmada. He said that without paying any heed to the criticism, he will continue to make efforts for environment conservation and plantation. He was addressing the first anniversary of Namami Devi Narmada Seva Yatra in Hoshangabad on Tuesday. He also did Bhumipujan of sewerage water treatment plant and Amrit Yojana’s storm water drain. Treatment plant worth of Rs 10.24 crore is being constructed.


He stated that Rs 1,377 crore has been approved for development of Narmada banks. Work of sewage plants in 8 urban bodies has been started. He informed that SKP plants will be established in Munhasa of Babai. Construction work of 249 toilets on ghats has been started and 29,500 toilets have been constructed in rural areas.
Work for 20 changing rooms and toilets in 110 villages, located on the banks of river Narmada has been commenced. As many as 285 dustbins and vehicles are being given to collect garbage from ghats. Approval has been given for cluster at Hoshangabad and Dewas to establish solid base. Work in this connection will begin soon. Moreover, 20 Mukti Dhams in urban areas and 14,000 in rural areas have been constructed. Amount has been sanctioned from the MP’s fund to set up gas based crematorium at Hoshangabad. Biodiversity committees have been formed in about 235 gram panchayats.


He said that biogas plants have been approved for 2,227 villages. An amount of Rs 41.40 crore has been approved for construction of 40 Rain-Baseras (Night Shelters) on right bank and 42 on left bank of Narmada. He stated that 2,448 solar pumps have been set-up on Narmada banks. Efforts have been made for reverse plant to stop flow of polluted water from the industries into Narmada.He added that 68 liquor shops of areas situated on the banks of Narmada have been shut down. CM Chouhan informed that sand mines of Narmada banks have not been auctioned. Besides, electrification work in 130 majra tolas, 100 poojan kunds and immersion kunds have been constructed. Organic farming is being encouraged. Narmada Seva Committee is working for sanitation of Narmada in 16 districts. He administered pledge to all present on the occasion to continue Narmada Seva Mission.

He released books ‘Narmada Seva Mission ka Ek Varsh’, e-book of Umakant Umrao, Divisional Commissioner of Narmadapuram division.Vidhan Sabha Speaker Dr Sitasaran Sharma, Minister District in-charge Jalam Singh Patel, MP Rao Uday Pratap Singh, President Jila Panchayat Kushal Patel, MLAs Vijaypal Singh, Thakur Das Nagvanshi, Sartaj Singh beside, Chairman of Mineral Development Corporation Shiv Choubey, Member of State Antodaya Committee Harishankar Jaiswal, President Nagar Palika Akhilesh Khandelwal and President Janpad Panchayat Sangeeta Solanki were present during the programme.
