Villagers are facing a lot of troubles due to low voltage power supply. The worst affected is Kunkuri block in Narainpur due to incomplete 33KV power station. The longest 50 kms power supply line is from Kunkuri to Narainpur Kuhapani, Bacchraon and Pandaripani. This is the reason different problems have arisen. Electrification in villages is going on under Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Gram Jyoti Yojana. Transformers are being installed in the villages, therefore, power load is increasing day by day, leading to low voltage problem in dozens of villages. In Narainpur, a sub-station is being constructed. The construction work is allegedly going on at snail’s pace. Despite being a power surplus state, the region is still facing a low voltage problem. In absence of normal power supply, villagers are forced to spend nights in the open sky. Power is being supplied to Narainpur region from Kunkuri Service Station. Since power supply line is long, often low voltage problem occurs.

Villagers are in trouble as their coolers and fans are not working due to low voltage problem. Villagers alleged that
there was only one lineman. If some snag occurs in the transformer at night, there is no one to rectify it.In absence of power supply, villagers generally sleep on floor to escape heat. They live in constant fear of snake-bite and scorpion sting. Due to low voltage problem, there is water crisis in Narainpur. Under Nal Jal Yojana, water was being supplied to the houses. But now they are bereft of this facility due to low
voltage problem. Meanwhile, Lokesh Namdev, Assistant Engineer, said that with the installation of new transformers in villages in wake of electrification, the load has increased manifold. Therefore, the problem of low voltage has arisen, said Namdev.
