Collector conducts surprise inspection of procurement centres in Patan area

Collector, Chhavi Bhardwaj, on Wednesday conducted surprise inspection of a number of procurement centres in Patan area and expressed displeasure over delay in transportation of wheat. She directed senior officials associated with procurement arrangement to ensure transportation and storage of wheat procured from farmers before May 25. Bhardwaj said, the committees would have to make transportation arrangement at their own level.
The Collector, on Wednesday conducted inspection of Archha, Nunsar, Patan and Udna Medi procurement centres. Superintendent of Police, Shashikant Shukla was also present on the occasion.

During inspection, she held discussion with farmers and sought details about payment of yield sold at the centres. She, on the occasion, directed concerned officials to see that the weight of bags must not increase above 50 kg 700 gms.
She also sought information about availability of sacks at procurement centres and directed to provide sufficient number of bags to each centre. Bharadwaj clearly asked officials to keep details of every sack and ensure that they must not reach in the hands of traders or middlemen.
During inspection, she directed to procure wheat as per FAQ standards. She also asked farmers to take clean and good quality wheat to procurement centres so as to avoid inconvenience. She also took information about availability of grader at the centres.

The Collector also sought detailed information of wheat procurement of current year as compared to last year. She was informed that current year procurement is nearly double to last year procurement at every centre. Officials informed that the consolation amount of Rs 265 per quintal given under Mukhyamantri Krishak Samruddhi Yojana apart from support price is the main reason behind increased procurement.
