Initiating the election campaign from Bilaspur AICC President Rahul Gandhi has made it apparent that his main target in Chhattisgarh is Janta Congress (Jogi) and not Bhartiya Janata Party. Like his party leaders, the AICC President is also suffering from Jogeria and if the AICC president is concerned about tribals, he should go to Patan, Jashpur and Ghatbarra to see how his own party leaders had conspired to grab lands of tribals. The Marwahi Legislator stated that his party took out a Chunauti Yatra from Raipur to Rajnandgaon where former Chief Minister and Janta Congress Chhattisgarh (J) President Ajit Jogi had announced to contest against Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh.

Jogi questioned, though the AICC President is taking out a road-show from Raipur to Durg, why not he is going to Rajnandgaon, the CM’s constituency. He said Rahul Gandhi is addressing a public meeting in Sitapur but not entering Jashpur, the bastion of Judeo family, National ST Commission Chairman Nandkumar Sai and Union Minister of State Vishnu Deo Sai. Jogi said instead of challenging might of BJP in Chhattisgarh, the AICC President chose to start his campaign from Pendra, which is like putting a direct challenge to Ajit Jogi. But, the AICC President is unable to do it alone therefore they have sought the association of Gondwana Gantantra Party and Ekta Parishad to hold a public meeting in his constituency, said Jogi.

The Congress leaders have urged the local party workers to bring people from more than 32 constituencies, some from more than 400 kms away. Even leaders from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh are camping here. And yet the size of the dome for the meeting is only 18,400 square feet, which is about the size of a block level meeting. The Marwahi Legislator further said despite all these facts, they have accepted Rahul Gandhi’s challenge. He said when he will be attending the Congress function at Kotmi, the Janta Congress Chhattisgarh (Jogi) will be single handedly holding a public rally in Pendra. ‘We can’t afford a dome but our tent’s size is 1,40,000 square feet and every inch of our 6 acre ground will be full of local people. That’s almost 10 times bigger than Rahul Gandhi’s public meeting.

He also termed that Rahul Gandhi’s claim that his visit to his constituency is not political but only to address tribal rights issues is all hogwash. If Rahul Gandhi is so concerned about violation of tribal rights, why doesn’t he go to Jashpur where the Pathalgadi Movement has become the most glaring example of tribal rights violation in the entire nation. The tribals of Jashpur have been forced to erect stone pillars reminding the ruling class of their constitutional rights. They are being oppressed by the state machinery. All this is because the BJP government has been quietly giving away mining leases over their ancestral land to companies closely linked to both the parties. Why doesn’t he go to Ghatbarra where, in return for lucrative transportation contracts, his party’s local MLA, let the BJP government illegally abrogate 900 forest right pattas? Why doesn’t he go to Patan where his state chief Bhupesh Baghel’s father was found guilty by the Durg district court of having grabbed 20 acres of land meant for tribals? Jogi said that given the AICC President’s excellent electoral track record, we want him to go everywhere in Chhattisgarh.
