Carcass of tigress found in Kanha Tiger Reserve

Carcass of a sub-adult tigress was found in compartment number 322 in Bhagpur beat of Khatia range in buffer zone of Kanha Tiger Reserve, on Wednesday. A patrolling team of forest guards in Bhagpur beat first spotted the body of tigress and a dog squad was called on the spot.Learning about the incident, senior officers of Kanha Tiger Reserve, accompanied by team veterinarians, reached the spot and started investigation as per standard operation procedure specified by the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA).Field Director of Kanha Tiger Reserve, Sanjay Shukla, while talking to ‘The Hitavada’, informed that in prima facie of the investigations, the death looks like a case of natural death as all the body parts of female tiger have been found to be intact.Autopsy of the carcass was performed by team of veterinarians, while further investigations are underway to ascertain authentic reason behind the death of female tiger.
