NSCBMCH suspends junior doctor over manhandling

The junior doctor, who was responsible for manhandling the relative of a patient at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College and Hospital (NSCBMCH) on Tuesday, was suspended for two months and Rs 5,000 was imposed as penalty. The guilty junior doctor was identified through CCTV footage.
Expressing irk and dis-satisfaction over the incident, Minister of State for Medical Education, Sharad Jain instructed the college authority to take action against the guilty junior doctor as such incidents defame the institution’s image in public.

Taking serious note over the incident, Dean, Jabalpur Medical College, Dr Navneet Saxena, while chairing the college committee meeting called on Wednesday, imposed penalty of Rs 5,000 on the guilty junior doctor and suspended him for 2 months.All the committee members favoured the Dean’s decision to take strict action against the guilty junior doctor. It may be mentioned that, in yet another incident, a patient’s relative was badly manhandled by a junior doctor at ward no. 20 on Tuesday. The relative became seriously injured and was admitted. The patient reached Jabalpur Medical College and Hospital for availing treatment following the recommendation of Minister of State for Medical Education, Sharad Jain.This was the third incident when either patients or their relatives were physically manhandled (Contd on page 4)
