Intl Bioethics Training programme held

A three-day International Bioethics Training programme was conducted at a local hotel from May 28 to 30 under the aegis of Pt Deendayal Upadhyay Memorial Health Sciences and Ayush University Raipur and in association with International Network of UNESCO in Bioethics. Dr Vedprakash Mishra, Pro Vice Chancellor, Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences, Karad (Maharashtra), was the chief guest of the inaugural ceremony of the programme. Ayush University Vice Chancellor Dr G B Gupta presided over. Senior medical practitioners Dr S R Gupta, Vice Chancellor of Salem University Karnataka Dr V R Rajendran, Indian Dental Council member Dr Asmita Singh Gupta, Dr Russel D’souza, prominent persons and principals and deans of various educational institutes were present in the programme.

University registrar Dr S K Jadhav proposed vote of thanks in the inaugural programme while Dr Navin Gupta conducted it. UNESCO Chair in Bioethics Nodal Centre was inaugurated at the Ayush University. With it a nine-member Bioethics Steering Committee was also formed. Discussion on human rights and bioethics and 15 principles was held by the experts Dr D’souza, Dr Marry Mathew, Dr Derek D’souza, Dr Santosh Salagre and Dr Prince Palati. Dr S Geetalaxmi, Vice Chancellor of MGR Medical University Tamil Nadu was the chief guest of closing ceremony while Dr Gupta presided over. Guests of honour were Durg University Vice Chancellor Dr Shailendra Saraf and Secretary to the Governor of Chhattisgarh Surendra Kumar Jaiswal.
