A 31-YEAR-OLD tour and travels operator was duped of Rs 2 lakh by an unidentified miscreant who promised him dollars in exchange of Indian currency. The operator is also an agent of Western Union Money Transfer and hence he needed foreign currency. According to Kamla Nagar police, complainant Mayur Daswani (31), son of Mohan, a resident of Kolar Road, stated that he received a call from an unidentified number on May 20. The caller told him that he is calling from a well known hotel Sayaji in the city located near Sair Sapata and invited the complainant to the hotel offering him exchange of dollars. The accused told the complainant that he is an employee of Hotel Sayaji and he can offer him dollars in exchange of Indian currency.

The accused told that his name is Abhishek Rajput and invited him to the hotel on May 20 and once he reached there, the accused exchanged his Rs 33,400 and offered him 500 US dollars. The accused showed the victim a cabin claiming to be his and he works in the Sales Department of the hotel.
Next day, the victim again received a message that he can
get exchange of USD 3,000 after which the complainant reached the hotel and there he took Rs 2 lakh from him. The accused then asked him to wait as he will bring dollars from inside and then he fled the scene. When the accused did not turn up and after realising the fact that he was duped he enquired with the hotel staff and found that the accused was not an employee of the hotel.
