Staff Reporter,

Enforcement Squad of Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT), on Thursday, demolished around 40 per cent of the unauthorised construction of Shri Ram Celebration Hall in Ladikar Layout along Manewada Road. The action will continue on Friday too.

Ladikar Vikas Samiti had constructed the ground floor plus two floors of hall in Khasra Nos 15, 16, 17, 18 in Mouza Manewada, without getting approval of NIT. As there was no parking lot available, the vehicles were being parked on roadsides, causing inconvenience to the residents of the area.

Fed up with it, some of the residents lodged a complaint with NIT.
During its action, NIT’s Enforcement Squad demolished three slabs of the two-storeyed hall, balcony, toilets, and wall compound. The electricity meter also was seized. Around 40 per cent of the structure was razed between 11 am and 5.30 pm. The demolition drive will continue on Friday too.

After receiving complaint from the residents of the area, NIT had conducted an enquiry. It found that Ladikar Vikas Samiti had not taken any permission for construction. Though the plot was for residential purposes, it was utilised commercially. On March 16, 2018, NIT served a notice to Ladikar Vikas Samiti and asked it to raze the unauthorised construction. However, as the committee did not respond to the notice, NIT Enforcement Squad reached the spot on Thursday. Amid bandobast from Hudkeshwar Police Station, NIT allowed the committee to remove material till 1 pm. Later, it started demolition drive.

NIT team comprising Sanjay Chimurkar, Executive Engineer (South); Avinash Badge, Zonal Officer (South); Manohar Patil, In-charge of Enforcement Squad; Sandip Raut, Vinod Khudge, Mahesh Chaudhary and others executed the action.
