Pakistan releases Seoni youth

A youth from Seoni district of Madhya Pradesh, who inadvertently crossed the border of Pakistan and was lodged in Pakistani jail for years, was finally released by neighbouring country on Thursday morning. After crossing the Wagah border, released youth reached Amritsar. He will be brought to Seoni on Friday.

Talking to ‘The Hitavada’, ASP of Seoni district, Gopal Khandekar told that a local youth Jitendra Arjunwar had crossed the border of Pakistan and was subsequently caught by Pakistan Rangers there. Later, Pakistan sent a query to verify that Jitendra is resident of Seoni. “It was since then that we were in regular touch with Pakistan embassy as well as India’s Ministry of External Affairs. We pursued the case on top priority and sent necessary document proving the nationality of Jitendra and now finally he could be reunited with his family,” added Khandekar. He told that SP Tarun Nayak and he remained in constant touch with officials of Ministry of External Affairs and Pakistan embassy in connection with the case.

It was after this that Pakistan started the process to release him and was finally handed over to Indian authorities on Thursday morning. “It was at 11 am that Jitendra Arjunwar crossed the Wagah border. From there, he was taken to Amritsar hospital for check up. It will be at 11 am that he will fly to Delhi. He has been asked to get in touch with officers of Madhya Pradesh Bhawan once he reaches Delhi. Meanwhile, a cop and Jitendra’s brother have left for Delhi to bring Jitendra home,” he added.
