Naxal bandh takes toll on transport

DUE to day-long bandh called by the Left Wing Extremists, wheels of dozens of buses remained standstill in various Naxal-infested areas across the district, however, movement of taxis remained unaffected.As per information received, the ultras tried to disrupt traffic movement on the National Highways by felling trees at several places. Resultantly, large number of people had to face a tough time.Terming the encounter between police and ultras on Maharashtra- Chhattisgarh border as fake one, the ultras had called daylong bandh in various places across Bastar region.While the bandh caused no major effect in normal life in areas under Bijapur. Some areas including Farsegadh, Kutru, Bedrey, Basaguda witnessed disruption in traffic movement as buses were not plied.

Nevertheless movement of taxis remained unaffected. Movement of buses on Jagdalpur- Bijapur route was reported to be as usual. In interior areas across the Bastar region, the locals had to catch taxis to visit their respective destinations.
Meanwhile, sources informed that Belladela- Hyderabad bound bus service was also affected owing to bandh.The National Highway connecting Basaguda village was blocked after naxals cut down four trees which were later removed by the Central Reserve Police Force personnel with the help of local villagers.
