Tankha, Chouksey apprise Defence Minister of Cantt issues

Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Vivek Tankha and Cantonment Board Jabalpur, Vice-President Abhishek Chouksey tabled several important issues of Jabalpur Cantonment in a meeting with the Defence Minister Nirmala Sitaraman in New Delhi scheduled on May 4. Defence Minister Nirmala Sitaraman called a meeting of Members of Parliament and Vice-Presidents of Cantonment Boards in New Delhi.
Cantonment Board, Vice-President, Abhishek Chouksey informed that during the meeting Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Vivek Tankha gave a presentation on prevailing problems and demands of residents in Cantonment Board Jabalpur while he handed over a detailed report of problems and demands to the Defence Minister.

Through the presentation and report, public representatives raised the issue of removing names of thousands of residents from voter list in the name of encroachments. The situation leads to termination of a complete ward named Karondi. Besides this, other key issues during the meeting will be extension of civil area, easing the process of name change and including new names in General Land Register, removing the obligation of existing name of appellant in GLR for approval of renovation map, removing obligation of land classification in development works being carried out by the cantonment board in public interest, closing roads of public areas by army authorities, easing the free hold policy and providing benefits to employees of Cantonment Board as equivalent to central government employees.Defence Minister, Nirmala Sitaraman heard the demands and gave assurance to take positive note and fulfilling the demands of residents in Cantonment Board Jabalpur.
