In a tragic incident, a six-year-old girl died while four persons of her family, including her parents and two sisters, sustained injuries after a speeding bus hit the motorbike they were travelling in Mangalwara locality on Saturday morning.
The incident took place at Alpana Trisection at around 09:30 am when Ram Prasad Kushwaha, 35, son of Munnalal, a resident of Mata Mandir Square, who works as a gardener was riding the bike (MP-04-QD-0145) along with his family members including his wife Rajawati and three daughters, Sangeeta (3), Kirti (4), and Pooja (6).

As the victims reached near the Alpana Talkies Square, the school bus (MP-04 PA-1975) hit the bike after which they all fell on the road.

According to Mangalwara police, the bus was turning towards Bhopal talkies from the Bharat talkies area while the bike-borne victim, who was riding parallel to bus, took a simultaneous turn towards railway station. It was because the bus driver failed to notice a bike in front of the vehicle, which led the fatal accident. On receiving information, Mangalwara police reached the spot and ensured that the victims reach the hospital on time.

However, after being taken to a nearby hospital doctors declared Pooja dead while other family members were provided treatment in Hamidia Hospital.
The bus driver, Badri Prasad Panthi, a resident of Meera Nagar in Habibganj, who fled from the spot after accident leaving the bus at the spot and hired an auto-rickshaw and later he himself surrendered before the police. After the road mishap, agitated locals tried to overturn bus but they failed in their attempt. Later, the bus was seized by the police whereas a case under Section 304-A of the IPC has been registered against the accused driver.
