Huge quantity of mahua, liquor seized by Excise department

In a major haul, sleuths of State Excise Department recovered huge quantity of mahua and also seized country-made liquor from the forest area of Kajlikheda at Kolar Road on Sunday.


Ritesh Kumar Lal, Assistant District Excise Officer (ADEO), confirming the news told ‘The Hitavada’ that a team of 30 officials on Sunday early morning raided forest area of Kajlikheda and recovered 2,000 kg of fermented mahua lahan, a raw material used for making country-made liquor and seven litre of country-made liquor. ADEO Lal added that the market value of the seized material is around Rs 15,000. Besides, the team members also seized six plastic drums and instruments used to construct country-made liquor from mahua seeds. Half-a-dozen persons were also nabbed from the spot during the raid who were involved in this business.
Lal added that we have neutralised the entire seized material by putting salt in it and further investigation to ascertain information about from how long they were involved in this task and where they used to supply country-made liquor.
