Youth arrested in Amanaka loot case

Saket Kumar Singh alias Chotu, 23 years, a student of Mats University Computer Science 8th semester, has been arrested by Raipur police in course of investigations with the last March 26 incident of relieving a retired teacher of Rs 2.50 lakh in Amanaka locality. By appealing on social media the police got vital input to crack the case.


On the pretext of giving lift to the retired teacher Kanwal Das Manikpuri, 78, the accused had taken the old man to a lonely place at Nandanvan locality and committed the crime, the police informed.
The accused had adopted all possible ways to conceal his identity at the place of the incident, but the CCTV cameras installed as part of the Mission Secure City gave vital clues to the police.


On its social media page, the police placed the footage of the accused and appealed people for cooperation.
More than 1,000 people shared the footage of the accused over their respective Facebook IDs. Finally one of the citizens gave vital information to the crime branch. Out of the amount looted, Rs 1.10 lakh were found in the bank account of the accused.


The amount, motorcycle used by the youth and the clothes he wore at the time of incident have been seized by the police.
The police has thanked the citizen for helping to catch the accused youth, who hails from Bihar, but presently resided
near KH Memorial School, Jawahar Nagar, Amrapali road, in the limits of Supela police
station, Durg.
