20 injured as speeding bus falls in Kirar valley near Anuppur

Reckless driving left 20 people seriously injured on Sunday afternoon after one bus (CG 17 0120) run by Krishna Transport going to Anuppur from Mahor of Pushprajgarh fell in Kirar valley of Bhundkona Ghat under Amarkantak police station. The 20 injured include senior citizens, women and children. The bus driver and his assistant fled from the spot.


According to information, soon after the mishap, there was panic among passengers trapped inside the bus. People passing through the spot called Ambulance 108 and police who reached the spot and started rescue operation. The passengers trapped inside were taken out and taken to Amarkantak Government Hospital and Rajendragram. Two injured in the mishap sustained multiple injuries and have been admitted in District Hospital.


Police recorded the statement of the injured passengers and were told that the bus was being driven at high speed. Despite the fact that the path is hilly region with several blind curves, bus driver was driving at high speed. While passing through Kirar valley of Bhundkona ghat, he lodst control and the bus fell in the valley.


On the basis of statement, police have registered a case under relevant sections of IPC against the absconding bus driver and his assistant. The damaged bus was lifted by crane and has been parked at the police station. A search to apprehend the absconding driver has been started and further investigations are underway. Injured passengers are undergoing treatment and are reported to be stable. However two passengers have sustained serious injuries.
