Staff Reporter,

Madhya Pradesh Congress President Kamal Nath has claimed that Congress is going to get at least 150 seats in coming Assembly elections. Moreover, Congress will clear the candidates’ list by September.

Kamal Nath said this while interacting with mediapersons in Meet The Press programme organised by Central Press Club in Bhopal on Monday. He emphasised that Congress will fight elections on the strength of organisation and tickets will be given to those who have the winning chances.

In the meantime, he claimed that on coming to power, Congress will probe all kinds of alleged irregularities including misappropriation in Narmada plantation drive. Likewise, efforts would be made to provide relief to people as far as fuel rates are concerned.

Answering a question, Nath said that it is a set norm that if any new president comes then organisation body goes through the change. “Many office-bearers of organisation are interested in contesting the election,” he asserted. He quarried the question that whether he will become CM if Congress comes to power, but said that his political life is crystal clear. He is not having any relations with any dumper, wine or ‘satta’. When he used to be Union Minister, he had provided as much as financial assistance to State in sectors including roads, infrastructure etc. “Even CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan admitted this fact on the floor of Assembly,” he quipped.

Answering a question that whether Congress delayed in announcing his name as State President, he told that actually he himself was in a fix over taking the reins of Congress. He stressed that currently, politics has changed and slogans will not work, now people are demanding accountability of the expenditure. He alleged that Madhya Pradesh is number one in many things like atrocities against women, corruption etc. “Corruption has been institutionalised in Madhya Pradesh” he claimed. Accusing CM of making announcements till date,
he said that his vision is to change the scenario of Madhya Pradesh. He also answered to a question about his assets and told that he has not decided to contest the MLA election.
