NRI killed, three injured as speeding SUV overturns

A 30-year-old (Non Resident Indian) NRI working in a private travelling company in South Africa was killed while three others sustained injuries after the SUV they were travelling in turned turtle after hitting a road divider at VIP road under Koh-e-Fiza police station area early on Monday morning.

Police said that the four persons were injured after a vehicle bearing registration number MP-04 CB-3777 driven at a high speed, overturned after ramming into a road divider at around 5.30 am near Khanugoan. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital where one of them was declared dead, who was identified as Sachin Hiwale, 30, son of Laxman, a resident of New Priyadarshini Nagar near Narmada Bhawan. Investigating Officer Rajendra Singh Thakur said that the four were moving towards airport road when the driver lost control over the vehicle in -front of Hotel Imperial near Khanugoan and rammed it into a road divider and it turned turtle. The deceased along with his two friends, K K Agrawal and Shrikant Agrawal, and brother-in-law were in the black colour Scorpio owned by the deceased and after having food at a hotel at Raisen Road they were on VIP road when the accident took place. Some food packets were also found in the vehicle which indicates that they had also taken breakfast before the accident, he added.

After the accident brother-in-law of the deceased Babban left the spot while the two were discharged after providing primary treatment and in the initial investigation it was found that the deceased was driving the car but at the moment nothing could be ascertained and would be investigated, said IO Thakur. The deceased used to work for a company in South Africa and had come to the city a few months back.

Deceased’s body was sent for the post-mortem examination while the three other men were discharged after first aid and the police have registered a case under Section 174 of the CrPC and have started further investigation. The VIP road is turning unsafe due to over speeding vehicles as it is turning into a race zone where stunts on bike can be seen in the night as well.
