RMC to take action against encroachments 4 days a week

Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) has increased focus on encroachments as now the authorities will crack down on unauthorised structures four days a week. Earlier, Tuesday and Saturday were marked for the anti-encroachment work, which has now increased. Meanwhile, Town and Country Department has directed for action on 129 unauthorised structures once the list is received.


Anti-encroachment squad will now be active on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Actions will be carried out at Zone-2 and 7 on Tuesday, at Zone-3 and 6 on Wednesday, at 4 and 5 on Thursday and at Zone-1 and 8 on Friday. RMC Commissioner Rajat Bansal also directed the Town and Country Planning Department officials to expedite the work as the unauthorized constructions are increasing day by day. He also warned them that concerned officials will be held accountable in case of inaction.


Meanwhile, Town and Country Planning Department submitted the list of 129 unauthorized structures to the RMC. They weren’t regularized for they have violated the rules.
In the meantime, anti-encroachment squad drove away the vegetables and fruits vendors occupying the pathway at Shastri Market. Some of the shopkeepers were also fined up to Rs 10,000 for violation of sanitation rules.
