Ex-IAS officer Shashi Karnavat joins Cong

Former IAS officer Shashi Karnavat joined Congress on Tuesday. With this, she has taken plunge into politics. After taking Congress party’s membership, Shashi Karnavat took the pledge to help Congress in uprooting ruling party in coming Assembly elections. Earlier, Shashi Karnavat reached the residence of State Congress President Kamal Nath and had a deliberation with him. It was after this discussion that she took the decision to join Congress. On the advice of Kamal Nath, she reached Congress headquarters and took the membership of Congress in presence of Congress Vice President and Organisation Incharge Chandraprabhash Shekar. She assured to drum up the support of SC-ST in favour of Congress. Shekar congratulated her by presenting a bouquet. After this, Shashi Karnavat met Madhya Pradesh Congress incharge Deepak Babaria and had a discussion with him. Babaria urged her to work with full enthusiasm. Notably, Shashi Karnavat has been at logger-heads with State Government from long time and while remaining in service, she participated in protests. She accused the State Government of discriminating her on caste lines. Later, State Government had terminated her services. It was since then that it was being speculated that she may join some party.
