Hardcore Naxalite held in Kondagaon

A hardcore Naxalite carrying reward of Rs 3 lakh on his head was arrested by security forces during search operation carried out in forested pataches of Madhnar and Perampal village under Bayanar police station limits in insurgency-hit Kondagaon district here on Tuesday morning.According to police sources, the arrested ultra has been identified as Mohan Kashyap alias Sanat (20), a resident of village Tadnar under Orchha police station limits in Narainpur district.


The arrest was made by joint team of District Police Force (DPF), District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Chhattisgarh Armed
Force (CAF).As part of anti-naxal campaign, the security forces had gone for searching in forest areas of Mungwal, Kejang and Madhnar village under Bayanar police limits. While the security personnel were venturing into core forest areas on Tuesday wee hours, they spotted a person trying his escape. They immediately cordoned-off the area and nab the ultra.During interrogation, the arrested Maoist admitted his involvement in several IED blasts and naxal encounter that tool place in the district. He was active as Local Operation Squad (LOS) member. The searching party has also recovered a tiffin bomb weighing seven kilograms, a 20 meter long electric wire and three naxal literatures from the Naxal and arrested him under Section 23, 38 (2) and 39 (2) of Explosive Substances Act and other relevant sections of India Penal Code.Police produced him before a local court from where the naxal has been sent to jail.
