A workshop on “Human Trafficking: Role of Police in Investigations, Rescue and Rehabilitation” was organised by Chhattisgarh Police’s Crime Investigation Department (CID) at Police Transit Mess located at Police Line here on Tuesday.
Additional Director General of Police (CID) R K Vij inaugurated the workshop. Addressing the workshop, R K Vij said that the police officers play an important role in preventing human trafficking. Chhattisgarh government has made various provisions to prevent human trafficking, he added.


Vij said that human traffic is an organised and serious crime and it is prevailing all over the world. Children from poor countries are trafficked and they are sent to other countries. Human trafficking comes under crime, he added.The ADGP gave valuable information on investigation of human trafficking cases.Additional Director of Women and Child Development Department Padmini Bhoi, Laobur Officer D K Rajput, ADPO Sohanlal Sahu, Gargi Shaha of UNICEF, Prashant Dewangan, Ravikant and other officials addressed the workshop. Police officers from various parts of the state participated in the workshop.
