2 drug peddlers arrested, 125 gm smack worth Rs 12.5 lakh seized

Major success for police having apprehended two peddlers involved in supply of sedative smack weighing 125 grams worth Rs 12.5 lakh in the international market. The peddlers were nabbed from Metro bus stop near platform number 6 of Jabalpur station on Thursday. The success for the police is the outcome of the information obtained through informer given to Crime Branch and Civil Lines police. The two peddlers nabbed are from the neighbouring state of Uttar Pradesh. They were standing at the metro bus stop looking for potential customers. The success for the police was told to media in press conference held on Thursday evening.

About the success, it is informed that, on Thursday, one reliable informer informed that two fugitives are standing at metro bus stop in possession of sedative substance and looking for potential customers. Acting on the information, senior officers from Crime Branch were apprised of the suspect peddlers in possession of a sedative. Accordingly, a joint team of Crime Branch and Civil Lines police was constituted, who reached the spot in search of the miscreants. The miscreants, having sensed the approaching police team, attempted to hide their presence by taking advantage of bus stop column. Vigilant cops, having the information about the appearance of the two, summarily caught them, leaving no scope for them to flee from the spot.

aught, they were asked to reveal their credentials. They revealed their identity as Mohammed Etihasam Ikram(21) and another Mohammed Taukeer Jaseem(20) both residents from village Tikra Usma of Jaitpur Kotwali district, Barbanki, Uttar Pradesh. In course of search made, cops recovered plastic bag containing some powder like substance. The substance, when examined by the Crime Branch, was confirmed as smack. The smack weighed 125 grams worth Rs 12.5 lakh in the international market. Cops also recovered cash of Rs 470 along with three mobile sets from the possession of the two peddlers. Brought to Civil Lines police station, case under Section 8,21 of NDPS Act has been framed and they are being subjected to interrogation to reveal the sources of procurement of the smack seized by police and also their allied connection in obtaining the sedative. The police team comprised SHO Civil Lines Arvind Jain, along with Shailendra Patwa, Jitendra Dubey, Gyanendra Pathak, Shashi Prakash, Sadik Ali, Ashwani Dwivedi, Mukesh Parihar, Mahendra Patel from Crime Branch, while from Civil Lines police station, SI Shweta Somkuwar, PSI Tarun Kumar Amit Shrivastava, ASI Vinod Sharma, Vijay Sharma offered valuable support during the move. Superintendent of Police Jabalpur Shashikant Shukla has announced cash reward for the police team having apprehended two peddlers.
