PSBs’ 2-day strike: Biz worth Rs 5,500 crore affected in Vid

Business worth Rs 5,500 crore in Vidarbha including Rs 3,300 crore from Nagpur, was affected due to two-day strike call given by United Forum of Banks Union (UFBU) since Wednesday. Employees and officers of public sector banks (PSBs) participated in the strike. The employees and officers are demanding expeditious and early wage revision settlement, adequate increase in salary and improvement in other service conditions and wage revision settlement to include all officers upto Scale VII.


On second day of strike i.e on Thursday in city, bank employees and officers gathered at Bank of India, Main Branch, Kingsway at 11 am and shouted slogans against IBA and Government for delaying in resolving charter of demands. Over, 2,000 employees and officers were present in the demonstration including All India Bank Retirees Federation (AIBRF), Nagpur unit. AIBRF is demanding 100 per cent DA neutralisation, upgradation of pension and updation of family pension, improvement in medical facilities for all retired employees. The demonstrations were led by Jaiwant Gurway, General Secretary of EMBEA, Virendra Gedam, Ashok Atkare, Milind Wasnik, Swayamprakash Tiwari, Santosh Jatav and Surbhi Sharma.


A huge gathering of bank officers and employees was addressed by the leaders of UFBU Nagpur Chapter including Suresh Bobhate, V V Asai, Pradeep Chakraborti, Nagesh Dande, Nitin Borwankar, Kamal Rangwani and Prakash Bhagwatwar.Satyashil Rewatkar, Chairman of EMBEA conducted the proceedings and vote of thanks was proposed by Anant Kulkarni, Convenor of UFBU. Prominently present were Dilip Potle, P G Meshram Vijay Thakur, Shrikrishna Chendke, Prabhat Kokash, L P Nandanwar, Manohar Agasti, Pradip Yelne, Dinesh Meshram, Bhushan Mahajan, Nagesh Dande, Wazir Meshram, K Jagadeesan of Bank of India, Ishwar Chellani, Suresh Selukar, S Chauhan of UCO Bank
and others.
