College admission cut off likely to remain stable

As it is high time for the class XII pass-outs to get admission on selected seats of colleges, most of the students are discussing about the cut off list in campuses. Experts expected that this year cut off list of colleges would shoot up hardly by one or two percentage as compare to last year.

In State board class XII exam 1,12,625 students have successfully passed the exam with distinction marks. These students have scored from 75 to 85 per cent marks. Therefore, it is being expected that this year cut off would be stable and it will shoot up or decline hardly by one or two percentage. For graduate-level admission 2017-18 in general category at Nutan and Excellence College (BSC-PCM) cut off was at 91 per cent. Generally, in most of the colleges after concluding first round of admission cut off remain stable which increases the expectation of general category student who have scored average marks. But for past two years cut off is getting increased after first round of admission.

In the year 2016, Math-Science and B.Com admission was started at Nutan PG College with 100 percent marks. The college witnessed last cut off for BSc Math as 72.2 per cent and B.Com Computer as 65 per cent.
The same situation prevailed at MVM College where B.Sc Maths admission started with 95 per cent marks and ended at 85 per cent marks. Opening of vocational courses in year 2016 was 92 to 93 per cent marks.

Prabhat Pandey, Professor at Nutan College, said last year cut off was high in a few selected subject and this year it is expected to be same like last year. He further informed that last year (2017-18) cut off list of Excellence College shoot up as 89.3% in B.Com (Accounts), 87.8% in B.Com Management), 90.8% in B.Sc Math, 89.6% in BSc Computer Science, 89.6% in B.Sc Physics, 84.8% BSc electronics, 86.6 B.Sc biotechnology, 89% BSc chemistry with math, 85.6% in BSc chemistry with food science, 84.4% in BA economics with management and 90.2% in BA economics with arts. This year cut off for all the above subjects at Excellence college is expected as 87%, 88%, 90%, 88%, 89%, 85%, 87%, 90%, 84%, 85% and 91% respectively.

Last year cut off list of Nutan College for UG admission was witnessed as 91% for B.Sc PCM, 87% for B.Sc computer, 82.8% for B.Com, 82.8% BCA, 62% BA while this year cut off is expected as 89%, 85%, 83%, 81% and 60%. BSc PCM cut off at MVM college was witnessed as 86% during year 2071-81 and this year this is expected as 88%. MLB College witnessed BSc PCM cut off as 81.4%, B.Com computer 80.8% and BA 50.80% while this year it is expected to be 82%, 79% and 49% respectively. Hamidia College witnessed cut off of BBA as 67-4%, BCA 65.2%, B.Com 66.4% and BA 42.2% while expectation for this year is as 68%, 66%, 65% and 40%. Geetanjali College witnessed cut off as 84.2% in B.Sc computer science, 60.2% in B.Com plain and 42.94% in BA while this year expectation is 83%, 75% and 41% respectively.
