Congress leaders release the audio tapes of Antagarh by-election fixing scandal before the media in Raipur

Accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government, opposition Congress has demanded Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the alleged fixing of Antagarh assembly by-election in September 2014.
Bhupesh Baghel along with other party leaders waved the alleged Antagarh assembly by-election fixing scandal audio tape before the media at Congress Bhawan on Saturday.

Talking to mediapersons here on Saturday, the State Congress President Bhupesh Baghel alleged that when he waved the sex CD featuring the name of a BJP minister, the matter was given for CBI inquiry and then why was the fixing of Antagarh by-election not being given for CBI inquiry.

“Today, we are releasing the Antagarh by-election CD. We are daring the State Government to hand over the Antagarh by-election fixing scandal to CBI for investigation,” he added.

The audio tapes purportedly contained conversations between former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi, his son Amit Jogi and a close relative of a senior BJP leader. These purported conversations suggested that a financial deal could have led to the withdrawal of Congress candidate Manthuram Pawar from the Antagarh Assembly by-election to ensure the BJP candidate Bhojraj Naag’s win.

“If the State Government hands over the sex CD case waved by us to CBI, then today we have released the Antagarh by-poll fixing scandal tapes before the media and the government should hand the matter to CBI,” Baghel said.

In 2016, the Congress leaders lodged a complaint regarding the Antagarh by-poll fixing scandal. In this matter, the police have not conducted investigation so far. The government agencies like CBI and police are being misused by the BJP government to crush the opposition parties, he added.

The State Congress President also raised various allegations against the BJP government. Baghel claimed that some BJP leaders were involved in making sex ‘CD’ and these leaders were also involved to distributing these sex CD. The Congress leaders are being trapped only into this matter, he clarified.
