Heavy rains warning for many parts in State

Pre-monsoon showers continues to bring respite from humid and sultry weather conditions. On Saturday, maximum temperature recorded was 36.3 degrees Celsius which was three degree below normal and minimum was 26.4 degrees Celsius in Bhopal. City witnessed 1.7 mm rainfall. In next twenty-four hours cloudy weather with possibility of rain or thundershowers, accompanied by squall. Southwest Monsoon will be active in Madhya Pradesh within next 24 hours. However, it can take two to three days to reach Bhopal. Wind velocity recorded was 25 km per hour.


In last 24 hours, Shahdol, Jabalpur, Bhopal and Hoshangabad divisions witnessed rainfall, accompanied by thunder showers in many parts. In other divisions like Sagar and Gwalior only few areas witnessed rainfall. Rainfall recorded in other areas includes Umaria district 10mm, Sausar district 8 mm, Narsinghpur and Chhindwara 4mm, Jabalpur, Seoni, Chhatarpur and Raisen 3mm.


Maximum temperature dropped from -2.1 degrees Celsius to -4 degrees Celsius in Bhopal division where as in other division the maximum temperature witnessed slight drop from -2 degrees Celsius to 2 degrees Celsius. Maximum temperature was recorded at Sheopur with 45 degree Celsius. In Rewa division, maximum temperature declines to -1.6 to 3 degrees Celsius. In Chambal division maximum temperature increased from 1.6 to 3 degrees Celsius. Jabalpur division recorded maximum temperature lower than the normal range from -3.1 degrees Celsius to -5 degrees Celsius.


Heavy rains warning has been given for Betul, Harda, Narsinghpur, Chhindwara, Seoni, Khandwa, Indore and Dindori districts.


In some areas of city heavy rains occurred especially during afternoon which also resulted in water-logging in low-lying areas in city. Adding to the issues as soon as the rains started on Saturday power supply was effected in many areas. Notably, directions have been issued to complete the months ago, pre-monsoon maintenance by power company so that power supply should not be affected for long hours.
