LIC donates hearse van to JMC

LIFE Insurance Corporation (LIC) of India, on Tuesday donated a hearse van (Vehicle for carrying dead body) to the Jabalpur Municipal Corporation (JMC). Mayor Dr Swati Godbole, Zonal Manager of LIC, H S Shashi Kumar, Regional Manager, B S Mishra and public representatives were present on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Mayor, Dr Godbole informed that there was a time when the JMC was having only two such vehicles. People had to face problems in arranging vehicle for performing last rites of their dear ones. Hence, viewing citizen's problem the Mayor started public participation scheme and urged public representatives and organizations to donate vehicle for the noble cause. Following her requests MP, MLA and Ministers are donating the vehicle to the JMC. So far public representatives and organisations have donated as many as 10 vehicles to the JMC. Mayor, said the JMC still need five more vehicles. She has appealed to all to be a part of public participation scheme and donate vehicle to the JMC. The Mayor on the occasion extended gratitude to the LIC and said now people would not face problem in getting vehicle for carrying mortal remains of their near and dear ones. Amongst those also present on the occasion were Mayor-inCouncil member, Kamlesh Agrawal, Shriram Shukla, Assistant Commissioner, Gajendra Singh, Rohit Singh, MI-C Secretary, Vinod Omre, Office Superintendent, H P Singh, Vehicle Incharge, Sandeep Jaiswal and LIC officers.
