Moderate to heavy showers in Vidarbha during next 48 hrs

AFTER the onset of Southwest Monsoon, Vidarbha has been receiving good rains and these rains proved to be highly instrumental inpulling the temperatures from above the 40-degree mark to settling around mid-30’s. According to weather department, a trough is seen running from Bangladesh to Andhra Pradesh across Vidarbha.

Therefore, they are expecting moderate to heavy showers over parts of Vidarbha and Marathwada like Chandrapur, Parbhani, Akola, and Nanded for the next 24-48 hours.

However, Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Nagpur informed that Southwest monsoon has further advanced northward upto Buldhana,Amravati,Nagpurand Gondia in Maharashtra. According to RMC, there will be subdued rainfall activity after 48 hours in Central India including Vidarbha and Marathwada due to weakening of monsoon flow. This dry spell may last for about a 7-10 days. During the last day as well, almost the entire Maharashtra witnessed good rain and thunder showers.

Heavy to extremely heavy rains occurred over many parts of Konkan. However, the rain intensity was more over the southern districts of the Konkan division. Mean while, parts of North Konkan settled with some light spells. Moderate to heavy rains were also observed in parts of Vidarbha and Madhya Maharashtra.On Monday,Nagpur experienced the highest rainfall 68.7 mm in Vidarbha while Yavatmal (27 mm), Wardha (26 mm) and Amravati (19 mm) also recorded good rain. On Sunday, Ratnagiri and Vengurla recorded extremely heavy three-digits rains to the tune of 163 mm and 126 mm respectively in the State. Mahabaleshwar witnessed 76mm ofrains,Nagpur 69mm,Parbhani 48 mm, Kolhapur 20 mm, Akola 8 mm and Sangli and Udgir witnessed 6 mm of rains each.
