Rahul Gandhi visits kin of late Dadaji Khobragade at Nanded in Nagbhid

The AICC President accuses State Government of ignoring poor farmers and of favouring industrialists

“There are many talented farmers who have the potential to change fortunes of the country, but they lack Government support. The Government waived off loans worth Rs 2.5 lakh crore to 15 rich industrialists in India but could not waive off the Rs 70,000 crore worth of loans given to farmers,” said Rahul Gandhi, President of All India Congress Committee (AICC). He was interacting with farmers after paying condolence to HMT rice variety inventor Dadaji Khobragade at Nanded in Nagbhid tehsil on Wednesday afternoon.

He said, “I’ll stand by the farmers for their upliftment. I cannot promise a loan waiver assure steps like establishing food processing units and recreating the green revolution in country if voted into power.”

Mentioning Nirav Modi, Rahul said that while the Government was unable to answer questions regarding the Rs 35,000 crore fraud, it has also failed to provide Rs 5 crore to a talented farmer like late Dadaji Khobragade who could have generated jobs for 50,000 people in the district.
Taking a dig at the Government for rising fuel prices, Rahul said, “Petrol and diesel should be brought under Goods and Sales Tax (GST) so that it can be used to generate jobs in the country.”

Rahul Gandhi handed over a cheque for Rs 2.5 lakh (sponsored by Vijay Wadettiwar) to son of late Dadaji Khobragade. MLAs of Congress in State Assembly also promised Rs 5 lakh to the family. Former MP Naresh Puglia too assured to give Rs 1 lakh to the Khobragade family and job to a kin.

When Rahul rolled his eyes over Cong MLA’s Rolex!

A Congress party MLA had a rather embarassing moment at the time of seeing Rahul Gandhi off from the helipad at Nanded when the party president took objection to the fancy wrist watch he was wearing. The MLA’s watch from Rolex company is said to be worth around Rs 6 lakh. When he shook hand with Rahul at the helipad, the watch caught the eye of the latter and he asked the MLA to remove it immediately and never wear it again in front of him.
Meanwhile, the SPG team and DSP Niyati Thaker also had an argument over reception line at the helipad. The list was sent by AICC from New Delhi and at the last moment, Manikrao Thakre, Vijay Wadettiwar and others were sent to receive Rahul.
