Pre-monsoon rains expose Mandi preparedness

Pre-monsoon rains that lashed the region has exposed the level of preparedness of Mandi administration at various procurement centers and in city areas namely Chapara, Ghasaur and the district headquarter. The harvest dumped in open field has been badly affected by the rainfall as the due to inability of mandi administration to provide adequate shed to harvest dumped is likely to make the harvest perished.

According to information the one duration pre-monsoon shower that hit the region has exposed the claims made by mandi administration pertaining to optimal safety to harvest dumped during active season of procurement. Grams dumped in huge quantity has been badly socked in rain water is likely to get perished with no efforts initiated to shift the wet grams lying at the procurement center open to sky.

Besides low lying areas in the district head and in development blocks namely Chapara , Ghansaur has equally proved troublesome to people residing have complaint of water logging in homes. The drains and sewer lanes that were supposed to be cleaned before the start of rainy season remains to be cleaned as this got exposed in the one hour rainfall as several low lying areas were water logged.

At the procurement centers it is informed that grams and pulses apparently dumped in the open have been badly affected due to rainfall. As at Krishi Upaj Mandi(KUM) Simariya thousand qunitol of grams dumped in the post procurement from farmers is likely to get perished on which the mandi administration has failed to take note of the harvest getting damaged due to water logging.

In populated area of Chhapara at Kumhari ward situation turned grim as during the first spell of rainfall low lying areas were badly inundated. Amidst increase sense of awareness inhabitants from the municipality ward have lodged complaint on CM help line of the issue of water logging and have accused the municipality of having delayed the construction of drain that got started a year back. Had the drain was constructed within the stipulated time period the area could have been saved from heavy water logging. Loss of house hold goods in form of food grains and furniture and the like goods have been badly damaged in the pre-monsoon.

Peeved resident from the region staged demonstration against the sarpanch village secretary, they were forced to visit the water logged ward and faced the anger of ward inhabitants. The major instance of water logging could have been averted had the construction of drain and cleaning of drains were completed before the start of rainy season. With no heed given ward inhabitants will have to face trouble during entire spell of rain season.
