THE utterances of Congress President Mr. Rahul Gandhi in the past two days is a reflection of his poor knowledge as well as the crass brand of politics his party resorts to time and again. The crown prince stooped to another level when he tried to garner political points on the ill-health of former Prime Minister Mr. Atal Behari Vajpayee. Mr. Gandhi’s utterance that he was the first to visit the ailing ex-PM before the BJP leaders did is utter nonsense which even a child will mock at. Such statements by the leader of a grand old party reek of the coarse values and social norms the present day Congress is practicing. Clearly bereft of any ideas to counter the pace of development the Government is achieving Mr. Gandhi is taking frivolous dig at PM Mr. Narendra Modi on any issue. The other day Mr. Gandhi scored another self-goal by spreading fictitious history of Coca Cola and Mercedes. Such mental bankruptcy and low level of politics would only hasten the Congress’ wipe-out from the political landscape in India. For the BJP-led NDA, more Mr. Gandhi showers his pearls of wisdom, more they gain!

THAT the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has seized land worth Rs. 44.75 crore belonging to former Bihar Chief Minister Mr. Lalu Prasad Yadav does not come as a surprise. But it only confirms the amount of corruption and swindling of public money and properties that these so called high and mighty have indulged in. With unfettered powers as the head of the Government it is hardly surprising that for leaders like Mr. Lalu Prasad Yadav amassing of personal and family wealth remained the singular mission. Thankfully, law has finally caught up with the chief of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and members of his family. Very deservingly Mr. Lalu Prasad Yadav is now cooling his heels in jail. But the law is taking too long to catch up with such master swindlers. It is because of this inordinate delay in expediting cases against politicians pending for years that they are able to get elected and occupy seats of power, giving them the chance to manipulate cases they are facing. But luck seems to have deserted Mr. Lalu Prasad as he faces a plethora of cases.
