sanitary workers protest over non-payment of 3 months wages

AGGRIEVED with pending wages payment, the contractual sanitary workers in large number staged a vehement demonstration at JLN Hospital premises on Friday morning. BSP trade unions’ office bearers supported the agitating workers and also took up the cudgels on their behalf. Talking to the newspaper, Yogesh Soni, Secretary, Hindustan Ispat Theka Shramik Union (CITU) informed that the contractual sanitary workers were perturbed as they were not paid due wages of last three months. He informed that on Friday morning, about 150 sanitary workers resorted to stage a demonstration in front of casualty section of JLN hospital, Bhilai. On learning about the development, the office bearers from BSP trade unions including Hindustan Ispat Theka Shramik Union (CITU), AICCTU and Loktantrik Ispat Evm Majdoor Union intervened and took up the matter with the hospital management. He asserted that the hospital management agreed to ensure the pending wages payment within three weeks. Soni also told the newspaper that they demanded the management for extending free medical facility to the sanitary workers in case of mishap and the hospital management also agreed upon the same. He also told that the trade union would also ensure the issuance of pay slips and identity cards to all sanitary workers.
