BJP will never allow Jammu and Kashmir to be disintegrated from the country, says Amit Shah

THE public rally to commemorate the martyrdom of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee addressed by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah in the State’s winter capital proved to be a befitting reply to the one-day shutdown organised by separatist elements in Srinagar 24 hours earlier.

Asserting that Dr Mukherjee gave his life to protect Kashmir as an integral part of India, Shah appealed to the people to recall the history of Praja Parishad which was the first mass movement of independent India. ‘Our young people must know this glorious history’, Shah insisted.

Kashmir is an integral part of India and the BJP will never allow it to be disintegrated from the country, Amit Shah stressed on Saturday, during his first visit to the State after the BJP withdrew support from the PDP-led Government.

The BJP party Chief also claimed that J&K is part of India due to the efforts of Jana Sangh founder Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee. “We will never allow Kashmir to get disintegrated from India. Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of the country,” Shah told a rally to mark “historic martyrdom anniversary” of Mukherjee. He said Mukherjee laid down his life to integrate Jammu and Kashmir with the country along with Praja Parishad’s movement.

“It (J&K being integral part of India) cannot not change,” Shah said. Asserting that Mukherjee is an inspiration for people and BJP activists across the country, Shah said he endangered his life and later sacrificed it in a bid to integrate J&K with India. “He is an inspiration for us. If J&K is on Saturday part of India, it is because of Mukherjee,” Shah said.

He also praised the Praja Parishad and its movement for the integration of J&K with India. “Praja Parishad is first National movement of Independent India. It is this which ensured integration of J&K with India,” Shah said.
He also appealed to the youth of the State to read the history of Praja Parishad.

Earlier, Shah reviewed the party’s preparations and strategy for the Lok Sabha election due next year. Shah reached the winter capital on Saturday morning for a day-long tripand was accorded a rousing reception with party’s youth wing taking out a bike rally from the airport to the State guest house.

“The BJP President chaired several meeting and reviewed organisational functioning, preparations for the forthcoming LS polls and its strategy,” a senior BJP leader told PTI.
Shah chaired the election committee meeting of the party to discuss the issues for the next election, he said. The top leadership of the party’s State unit briefed the BJP Chief about the political situation after the imposition of the Governor’s rule. The leaders have briefed him about the forthcoming programmes of the party in J&K in view of LS polls and also gave him elaborate briefing about the current programmes in the State.

Congress should apologise, act against Azad, Soz: Amit Shah: BJP President Amit Shah on Saturday asked the Congress to apologise for the statements of its senior leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad and Saifuddin Soz on Kashmir and dared it to take action against the two leaders. Addressing a public rally here, he said that after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) withdrew support to the PDP-led coalition Government, leading to its collapse, the Congress “started showing its true colours” in anticipation of elections. The BJP President, who was on his first visit to the State after his party suddenly decided to withdraw support to the Mehbooba Mufti Government, said that staying in power was not a priority for the BJP but “welfare and development of J&K was its only objective”.
