‘Govt moving ahead with positive approach towards honest taxpayers’

The citizens should pay their taxes properly and consider it as their responsibility and contribution towards the society. Government requires revenue to ensure security of the citizens and carry on development works. Therefore, tax collection should be a collective responsibility of all citizens. “Government is moving ahead with a positive approach towards honest taxpayers,” said Hansraj Ahir, Minister of State for Home Affairs, Government of India while speaking at the ‘All Vidarbha Conclave’ organised by Nagpur, Amravati and Akola Branches of ICAI.


The conclave was also supported by Chandrapur, Gondia, Wardha and Yavatmal CPE Chapters of ICAI.
With increase in opportunities in Vidarbha more investments will begin pouring in, as a result of our efforts, it is you CAs who will have to manage and guide industrialists and businessmen. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has help the Government immensely in education the general public about the Goods and Services Tax” Ahir said.


While sharing the importance of Make-in-India and Skill Development programmes being undertaken by the Government, he appealed the CAs to ensure young India is trained with correct knowledge of law. He welcomed ICAI to partner with the Government to plug loopholes in the system and provide practical solutions to problems being faced by citizens through experts amongst CA fraternity.
Anil Sole, MLC, acknowledged the expertise available with the CA community. “Chartered Accountants are amongst the most respected professionals of the society and a lot of reliance is placed on their advice and recommendations,” Sole said.


CA Sandeep KC Jain, Chairman, Western India Regional Council of ICAI, said, “WIRC is organising number of programmes at the regional level for not only members and students but also for common public to help them understand GST. Over one lakh hours of training have already been conducted throughout the region on GST.” He congratulated Nagpur Branch for being a leading branch of the region for taking number of activities for enriching the knowledge of members and also training common man through various means.


CA Uttamprakash Agrawal, past president of ICAI appreciated the efforts being undertaken by the members in providing auditing and assurance services.
CA Jaydeep Shah, past president of ICAI commented on the importance of being updated on several fronts by members to face the challenges in near future.


CA Abhijit Kelkar, Regional Council Member (RCM) appreciated the efforts of Nagpur Branch for organising the mega event with most happening law of the country wherein people from all parts of Vidarbha are attending. He expressed that such events should be continued for all sectors of the society in future.


CA Umang V Agrawal, Chairman of Nagpur Branch informed about the various initiative of the Institute taken for training on GST. “Nagpur Branch is working day and night to give all possible support to the department as well as Government for the new reform.


CA Purshottam Khandelwal, Secretary of WIRC explained about the development of GST at the regional level. CA Suren Duragkar, Vice Chairman coordinated the proceedings while CA Kirit Kalyani, Secretary presented the vote of thanks. CA Durgesh Kabra, past Chairman of WIRC was also welcomed during the programme.


CA P Rajendrakumar, CA Uttamprakash Agrawal, CA S Sudhakar, CA Snehal Shah, CA Sushrut Chitale and CA Mitesh Katira talked on various topics including GST, Income Tax, Companies Act, roles of chartered accountants in nation building.
