Majhi community’s protest concludes

The three days hunger strike organised by group of tribal communities ended with a rally in State capital. Good number of community leaders participated in the rally which started from Yadgar-e-Shahjahani Park to Roshanpura chauraha. Now the organisations said that, they will be staging similialr kind of demonstration on June 27 if nothing substantial measures is taken up by the state government . Talking to The Hitavada convener and spokes person of Majhi community Tikaram Raikwar said that said that the resolution passed by the Madhya Pradesh Assembly on March 04, 2016 and the letter was sent by the National Commission for Scheduled Castes to the Government of India for the refresh report regarding the said castes. Further which it was promised that declaration will be sent to government for final decision but no measure has been taken yet .


The protest is being organised showcasing apathy of state government to accept their demands to recognize the Dhiwar, Ghewar, Kahar, Mallah, Dhimar, Bhoi and Nishad sub-castes of Majhi as Scheduled Tribe in Madhya Pradesh. The protest is organised by MP Majhi Janjati Sanyukt Sangharsh samiti. The organisation members alleged that the constitutional rights of the community have been unnecessarily prevented by the Tribal Research Institute by telling the sub caste of tribe as business castes. This leads to gross dissatisfaction in the society. Further they stated that Due to the provision of Article 342 of Indian Constitution, Article 370 of the sub-castes of tribe, Dhivar, Kevat, Kahar, Bhoi, Mohallah, Nishad etc. should be removed from the backward class schedule and accordingly, the Govt should make a clear recommendation by taking a decision in the cabinet. They have also urged that the in educational institutions, government certificates of employment services, should be postponed by effect. These tribes used to live in Banaras and Allahabad on the banks of River Ganges at some point of time.,afterwards residing in Mandu, Panna, Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh, Rewa, Sidhi, Satna whose dialects and languages ??are Baghaelkhandi and Bundelkhandi. Other members of the association who joined the rally includes Santosh Meena, Maha Tikaram Raikwar, Keshav ,Dharmapal Nathkhat, Ashok Pardhi, Pannalal Meena ,Kalyan Batham, Bhaiyal Maran, Harbhajan Singh Meena etc.Photo B3-17 Caption: -
