Two inter-state drug peddlers arrested

Police arrested two members of an inter-state drug peddlers’ gang from Chhattisgarh state while transporting 17 kilogram of Ganja worth over Rs 17 lakh in the international market. Although one accused managed to flee from the spot, two others were arrested by the police team. This was informed by Superintendent of Police Singrauli, Vinit Jain, addressing a press conference on Saturday evening. The peddlers were arrested near Beejapur road and Parsauna road.According to information, SP Vinit Jain informed that on Saturday, one informer gave a tip-off about movement of a car from Beejapur road with cache of drugs. On being informed Waidhan police swung into action and reached the location near Beejapur road and waited for the car which reportedly did not have a registration number.


Seeing the cops in position, the car driver tried to move away from the main path but was stopped a little distance away. As the car stopped, two people managed to escape while one remained seated inside the car.Cops chased the car and arrested Akash Vinod Soni, resident of Boripara Ambikapur and another accused arrested from Parsauna road was identified as Rajneesh Vijay Mishra, resident of Bauda of Pratappur police station of Surajpur district. During search of the car, cops recovered 15 kilogram of Ganja and 2 kilogram from the peddler caught near Pasauna road. Total of 17 kilogram of Ganja was seized by the police team. The car used for transporting Ganja was also seized along with cash of Rs 1 lakh found in possession of two peddlers.


Brought to police station, the peddlers confessed that they used to bring Ganja from their home state and sell it among addicts in the region. A case under 8, 20 of NDPS Act has been registered against the two peddlers nabbed by the police who are being interrogated for further details regarding source of drugs. A search has been started to nab the third accomplice.SP Singrauli Vinit Jain, while talking to media persons, said, “we are firm to take action against those involved in sale and supply of drugs in the district area. No peddlers will be spared by the police.”
The police team was headed by Station House Officer Kotwali Manish Tripathi, along with SI Uday Parihar, ASI Shiv Kumar Dubey, Pintu Rai, Arvind Chaturvedi, Sanjay SIngh, Shyamsundar Vaishya, Jitendra Singh Sengar, Praveen SIngh Pushkar Porwal and Deepesh Patel of Cyber Cell.
