3 held with 111.34 kg of cannabis worth lakhs

IN a major catch, the district police recovered as much as 111.34 kg of cannabis worth Rs 6.68 lakh during a vehicle checking drive on Sunday. Three persons have also been arrested in this connection. According to police sources, the vehicle checking drive was stirred in front of Keshkal police station on National Highway 30. During the checking drive, a gray-coloured Honda Accord V-6 (DL-3C-AK-3682) was intercepted by the police. During inspection of the car, the police personnel found 111.34 kg of cannabis in 50 packets sealed with brown tape in the car.


The arrested accused have been identified as Aasu Khan (22), resident of Saharsa, Bihar, Hari Matam (36) of Koraput, Odisha and Arjun Subhi (24), resident of Koraput, Odisha.
The police also recovered one mobile handset, one Aadhaar Card and one voter ID card. Estimated worth of the recovered cannabis is said to be around Rs 6,88,000. During interrogation, the accused revealed that they had bought the cannabis from Koraput, Odisha and were heading towards Saharsa in Bihar to sell it. The arrested accused have been booked under Section 20 (C) of the NDPS Act. Further investigations are on by the Keshkal police.
