FROM last five months family members of the deceased from Kolhenjharia are running from pillar to post to get justice for the two youths of their family who lost their life in a road accident. Police till date have not lodged First Information Report against the accused nor the vehicle involved in the accident has been seized. It needs to be recalled here that on January 17, near Mohari-Telayan turn of Kolhenjharia village under Tumna polices station limits a road accident took place wherein two youths of Yadav family were hit by a recklessly driven tractor.

The impact of dash was so severe that the two got severely injured. Soon after the accident passersby gathered at the spot and informed Tumna police about the incident. But when even after a long time police did not reach the spot, passersby took the duo to Lailunga health
centre where the two youths Sohit Yadav (22) and Tosh Kumar Yadav (30) succumbed to injuries during treatment. Family members of the deceased are saying that many a times they have visited Tumna police station but they are not getting any help from the police. Even after taking statements of eyewitnesses and kin, police is not initiating the investigation nor have the police lodged any FIR. From the statements it has been learnt that Kashi Ram Bhagat is the owner of the tractor and Pusat Ram Chauhan is the driver both are residents of village Karrebevra, but then too police are not arresting them.

When contacted wife of Sohit Yadav informed that they belong to a very poor family and Sohit was the only earning member of the family. After his death the family is facing a lot of hardships to live their life. In such a situation we are forced to run from pillar to post to get justice this altogether is a different problem faced by us, she asserted. It needs to be mentioned here that Sohit’s wife also took this matter to Superintendent of Police (SP) stating about the negligent attitude of police officials she further added that in the absence of FIR report the family is unable to claim for compensation at the court. James Kujur, Tumna Station In-Charge informed that during the investigation it has been learnt that Pusat Ram Chauhan along with others were involved in this accident but they are absconding since then. Because of which further investigation has not been completed. But Tumna police is seriously following the case, he asserted.
