RBI celebrating ‘Financial Literacy Week’

RESERVE Bank of India (RBI) with an aim to spread the financial awareness message among the consumers has lined up a series of activities to celebrate the ‘Financial Literacy Week’ (FLW) from June 4 to June 8, 2018. This was announced by Indrani Banerjee, Regional Director of Reserve Bank of India, Nagpur while speaking at a press conference on Monday. This year the RBI has decided to observe Financial Literacy Week with the theme ‘Consumer Protection’. The theme has been chosen to create awareness among the consumers of financial services, their rights, responsibilities, good practices and resolution mechanisms in a fast changing financial landscape. 


Financial literacy posters have been prepared on four different topics like risk and return, grievance redress mechanism, customer liability for unauthorised electronic banking transaction and good practices for a safe digital banking experience. RBI has planned a string of activities for the Financial Literacy Week like all banks should advise their Financial Literacy Centres (FCEs) to conduct special camps on each of the five days in backward and unbanked areas. Banerjee said that the RBI in association with all banks is celebrating the ‘Financial Literacy Week’ to accomplish a common goal to improve the quality of life of the consumers.
RBI has initiated to include financial education in the school curriculum in the country. Also, a power point presentation was given on the working of National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) in financial inclusion. Prominently present were S K Verma, General Manager, L V S Mohan, General Manager, B Manjula, DGM (FIDD), Capt. Shubhabrat Agrawal, Assisstant General Manager and Anupam Singh, Manager.
