City twinkles as preparation for Eid commences

IN THE ongoing festival of Ramadan, a festival of love and social harmony, Eid preparations are being started with offering rituals of Roza fasting as per tradition. The cleaning and decoration of houses for the coming festival is being carried out by families as well as engaged in home décor. Sweets and dishes for Eid are also being prepared. An attraction during the festival in city is ongoing two kilometres long Meena Bazar on Charkhamba to Macharhai square road.
In the area, shops of traditional items including sewaiyaan, dry fruits, edibles items like bread, toast, dry fruits as well as shops of imported fruits, dry fruits, dress material, jewellery, imitation jewellery, shoes, handicraft, handloom and many special items are placed.


The shops of Eid caps are specially brought by artisans from Lucknow, Allahabad, Banaras, Hyderabad and other major cities gathering remarkable response and appreciation from visitors. The wide collection of caps having work of zari, rich embroidery, handwork embroidery studded with colours stones, glasses are amongst most liked items.The market is also famous for offering wide collection of perfumes, scents, shoes, salwar suits from different famous but traditional markets of the country. Traditional sweets called sewaiyaan, which is famous and traditional dish on the occasion of Eid is another major attraction for the customers.


Another speciality of this market is presence of Muslim community families in traditional outfits. The market starts in the evening falls and enjoy the atmosphere of Eid Fair Meena Bazaar. Notably, Meena Bazaar is an historic fair of the city, which is being held in India since ancient times. This Bazaar dates back to the times of Mughal period.
