World Environment Day celebrated at IGRMS

Environment enthusiasts and the participants of the Bicycle Rally organised by the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya (IGRMS) on the auspicious eve of this World Environment Day, actively participated in the programme of plantation in the museum premises to live with the memory of this grand celebration and also to register their presence as a Museum Friend marching together for an Environmental Consciousness on Tuesday.
Reaching out to the destination of the bicycle sally at the Avriti Bhawan (Coastal and the Desert Village, Open Air Exhibition) premises of the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya, Bhopal from the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Park, Patrakar Colony, Bhopal, today on the eve of this World Environment Day, the participants gathered to listen a short deliberation on ‘Environmental Conciousness to beat the plastic pollution’ presented by a 21 years youth participant Snigdha Chaturvedi, a resident of Bhopal pursuing an BTech. She is also an online volunteer at the United Nations Volunteering India to contribute peace and sustainable development. After her deliberation, she urge to pledge and spread the message on beating plastic pollution “if you cannot reuse it, refuse it”. The Director IGRMS and officials of IGRMS gave their enthusiastic presence towards the successfull organisation of this global event of awareness. Under the series of ‘Exhibit of the Month’ of Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya, a traditional object “Leephan” (An altar for the worship of Holy Scriptures) is displayed for a whole month. Dr Sandesh Kumar Jain (Director, Central Institute of Plastic Engineering & Technology, Bhopal) and Director, IGRMS, Prof SK Chaudhuri jointly inaugurated the Exhibit of the month at Veethi Sankul indoor exhibition building. This exhibition is being mounted by Dr Ashok Kumar Sharma (Assistant Keeper).


In the series of popular lecture organised by Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya, Dr Sandesh Kumar Jain, Director, Central Institute of Plastic Engineering & Technology, Bhopal delivered on the topic “Beat Plastic Pollution” with the help of slideshow presentation. He said that -We cannot stop waste production entirely, but everyone can make a significant contribution. The 'Reduce' (Try to reduce the amount of waste you produce, as this is the best way to help the environment), ‘Reuse’ (Think of ways you could reuse something) and ‘Recycle’ (This enables the materials you throw away to be used again by making them into new products) elements are referred to as the ‘3 R’s’. The programme was chaired by Prof Sarit Kumar Chaudhuri.


The results of a competitive event ‘Treasure Hunt’ that was organised on the occasion of International Museum Day on May 18, at Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya were also declared. The winners of this competition were jointly awarded by chief guest Dr Sandesh Kumar Jain and Director, IGRMS, Prof SK Chaudhuri with certificate and case prize distribution . In the category of general public, Raksha Tanvar and Vivek Pathak won the first prize (Rs 4000 & Citations), Sunil Yadav and Nitesh stood second (Rs 3000 and Citations) and Amrita Jain and Anushri awarded with third prize (Rs 2000 and Citations). While consolation prize (Rs. 1000 and Citations) awarded to Ayush and Anuj Whereas in the
category of Sangrahalaya staff, Rajendra Kumar Jhariya and Dr Manoj Jain won the first prize (Rs 4000/- & Citations), Vivek Jain and Sohan Singh won the
second prize (Rs 3000 & Citations) and Lalit Bagul and Dheer Singh won the third prize (Rs 2000 & Citations).
