Actor Sandra Bullock believes that a film led by an all-female cast was long overdue and she is grateful that it finally happened with Ocean’s 8.

Ocean’s 8, directed by Gary Ross and featuring Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina, Rihanna, and Helena Bonham Carter, is a spin-off of Steven Soderbergh’s The Oceans Trilogy.
Bullock, 53, plays Debbie Ocean, the estranged sister of Danny Ocean (played by George Clooney in the original Ocean’s 11), gets a gang of professional thieves together to steal a necklace from New York City’s star-studded Met Gala.

When asked about the experience of working with such an enviable all-female cast, Bullock told People magazine, “It felt like it was a long time coming. Too long if you ask me which you did but I’m just so grateful that it happened.
“It felt like we had all been kept in solitary confinement from each other. Kind of like an ‘actress quarantine’ and when we all found ourselves like sardines in the trailer that first day, it was like the dam burst and we all made up for lost time,” she added.

While actress Anne Hathaway says that said the atmosphere on the sets of her upcoming release Ocean’s 8 was cordial and there were “no catfights”. The 35-year-old actor, who stars in the all-female ensemble directed by Gary Ross, said certain section of the press wanted the cast members to engage in fights but were disappointed.

“It’s been really amazing to watch the way certain members of the media have wanted us to fight each other and the way they wanted there to be competition and catfights, but we were all collaborating - all the time.
“Now, we’re friends. We genuinely love each other and we’re so there for each other. It’s a beautiful thing,” Hathaway told.

While, Mindy Kaling has admitted that she had to learn Hindi as part of training for her role in the upcoming Ocean’s 8.

Kaling said although she was born to Indian parents, she had never spoken Hindi and found it “challenging” to learn it. “I actually had to learn Hindi to do a scene. Although I’m Indian, I was not raised speaking any Indian languages. So it was incredibly challenging, and it stressed me out like every night for months before. I got a coach.

“It’s the hardest thing I ever had to do as an actor - learn another language for a scene,” Kaling told Parade.
A Wrinkle in Time actor also revealed that she grew up speaking English, even though her parents are bilingual. “My parents are from different parts of India. My mom spoke Bengali and English. My dad spoke Tamil and English. When they met in Africa, the only language they had in common was English. English was the only language I heard growing up,” Kaling said.

Also featuring Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina, Rihanna, and Helena Bonham Carter, Ocean’s 8 hits theatres on June 8.
